Gone are the days of stashing money into piggy banks. As banking goes digital, people want more than just a place to park their cash - they want smart, trustworthy tools that help them actually reach their goals.
So we built just that. Leveraging emerging technology, we designed a goal creation experience on the TD app that feels less like a spreadsheet and more like your sidekick helping you on your financial journey.

why?
Managing investments and recurring contributions is tedious and frustrating for TD customers 😓
Currently, TD customers can only manage their recurring contributions, known as Pre-Authorized Purchase Plans (PPPs), through the web, phone calls, or in-branch appointments 😢. With a growing preference for autonomy and simplicity in financial management, customers are increasingly turning to innovative alternatives.

At the heart of our designs, are the user. We focused on making our experiences simple, friendly, and personalized to establish and maintain trust with our customer base, and uplift each unique individual's financial journey.

A robust and innovative goal creation experience 🎯
We created a comprehensive goal setting experience powered by AI-driven suggestions and an array of tools.
I worked on every aspect of this project, making an impact through conducting competitive analysis, creating user flows, leading design jams and ideation, wireframing, prototyping, and facilitating concept evaluations and testing.
Working with one senior designer and two strategists, I created a full mid-fidelity prototype that was tested using an unmoderated usability study with 5 participants.
The final product was handed off to the design team to complete high-fidelity designs and take it one step closer to shipping the product.

Users praised the goal creation experience's ease of use in setting and managing goals. Personalized insights, Gen AI images, and open banking connections enhanced their experience, making money management more intuitive and engaging. This success has propelled the product forward, leading to further testing and iteration as it moves toward full implementation.

My takeaways 💡
Being meticulous has its downsides
I pride myself in my detail-oriented attitude towards design and my everyday life. However, I found myself getting fixated on trivial details, slowing me down early in the process. Now, I've streamlined my workflow through improved prioritization, and have become more efficient and effective as a designer.
Jot/sketch everything down
Let go of the perfectionist attitude in the early stages of the design and don't be afraid of to put ideas down or speak on them - design is all about collaboration!
